Horse Trough FallsHorse trough falls

This beautiful falls is on the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River and can be reached on a short 800' walk along a easy path. Horsetrough Trail leads to beautiful Horse Trough Falls, high in the Chattahoochee watershed. Beginning at the trail head sign to the falls follow the trail 200 yards to the observation platform which will provide an unobstructed view of the falls. In the winter, part of the camping area may be closed and it is possible that you will have to park at the entrance to the camping area and walk to the trail head, a distance of approximately 1/2 a mile.

In the Mark Trail Wilderness, Horsetrough Falls is a wide area containing most of the Upper Chattahoochee River. The hike to the falls starts at the Upper Chattahoochee Campground. Go past the campground 5 miles on the road that follows the river and you'll end up in the city of Helen.

Horsetrough Mountain an elevated eastern ridge of the Blue Ridge Mountains is part of the Appalachian Trail and home to many waterfalls that end in the Chattahoochee River, where the water begins it's 500 mile journey to the Gulf of Mexico.
